I want to thank all of you who have gone online and checked out the blog over the past few weeks. When I started this site, I didn’t expect that this amount of people would be into this trip. I read every comment. They remind me of the amazing support system that I have back home and the incredible people that I have met along the way.
I also want to thank those who have donated to the National MS Society. This is a worthy cause folks. Over 2 million people are affected by MS worldwide and the National MS Society provides vital services to those diagnosed, while supporting those researching a cure as well.
I wouldn’t have embarked on this journey without partnering with this cause and I certainly wouldn’t have made it this far without the cause as my motivation. There are times at the end of my toughest days, when I am as tired as I have ever been. There is a steep hill lying between myself and my destination. My legs feel like wet noodles hanging from each side of me. I stop and think about Laurie getting stuck with needles all the time. I think about my friend Dave Nowlan, his wife Claire and daughter Julia with MS. I think about my favorite Spanish teacher, Maria Guida, her husband confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. I think about the hundreds of others whom I have met across the country who have been affected by this disease. My situation doesn’t seem so bad after all. I clip in a pedal on.
For those of you who haven’t visited my donation page and partnered up, let’s do this. I know we don’t all have a loaded bank account. Donate a dollar. Donate five bucks. Head over to Coinstar and donate your winnings. The donor page is my favorite part of my web site. It represents people from all over America and even the world who have signed in, ponied up and joined me in a fight for a cause. Let’s do something special here.
